morning (a hotel down the street is playing its lobby piano music, starting with the titanic song, at max volume through the entire neighborhood for over half an hour now and woke me up with it)

So apparently Apple approved a knock-off of GBA4iOS — the predecessor to @delta I made in high school — in the App Store. I did not give anyone permission to do this, yet it’s now sitting at the top of the charts (despite being filled with ads + tracking)

I’ve bit my tongue a bunch in the past month…but this really frustrates me. So glad App Review exists to protect consumers from scams and rip-offs like this 🙄

🧵THREAD - iGBA 🧵
Yeah so I think a lot of iOS users have seen that Apple updated their AppStore TOS and people can upload emulators now, and it already happened. This new thing called iGBA launched on the AppStore and oh boy it is full of red flags!
I became aware of this emulator when the creator posted about it on the GBDev server. Later, I noticed a message of someone (I won't upload screenshots, I will respect people's privacy) asking where to get ROMs. I redirected him to Homebrew Hub

PSA if you’re running netdata and used the official installer (some distro packages may also be affected), the ndsudo tool that comes with it is suid root and has a vulnerability giving anyone with permission to execute it the ability to run arbitrary commands with root permissions
